Kiddie Academy of Birmingham

Concerned about the below 1 Star from the below review from Mason Brown who went "here" in 2008. This Kiddie Academy did not open until September of 2018. We've been at KW since it January of 2019 and, for the most part, have had a very positive interaction. There has been a lot of turn over since Covid, but every other daycare is facing the same challenges. If you actually attended here and had a bad experience fine, but please don't bring them down if you actually have nothing to do with them.

Worst child care experience ever. Do not send your children here. Our youngest child was having some separation issues due to being in a new place and was biting. Our child was suspended without warning for a week. When asked what they do in class with 1 year olds that are biting they said they just tell them to stop. Even though there seemed to be a pattern they couldn’t identify when or why my child was biting. After returning to Kiddie Academy, was suspended again 2 weeks later for the same reason. Was told too many parents had been complaining about him biting and were threatening to pull their children out. Was denied a meeting with the owner to come up with a plan and then was told in a very unprofessional email that my child was not allowed to come back. This was less than 2 months of us starting there. We switched to Primrose of Meadowbrook and have not had any issues and they are so kind and work with the kids who are having issues. At Kiddie Academy the meals times were very inconsistent and they also had very high teacher turnover which also caused our child anxiety. Several former teachers from Kiddie Academy have been hired on at Primrose and we love them. Found out later from a friend that the director of Kiddie Academy had been abruptly let go from another daycare that they were at due to undisclosed reasons. So glad to be gone from there even if it wasn’t our choice.

My child was not taken care of compared to the other daycares that she had been in. Bite marks, sickness, and the teacher to student ratio is bad. My kid would watch youtube all day. That’s their curriculum... YouTube. They are so unprofessional and only care about money. Please don’t let your little ones endure the suffering like ours did. I hate our kid went here. This place needs to be out of business. They do not know how to run a daycare or care for their customer. I think the owner needs to let this pipe dream go before someone gets smart and sues.

Please please do not take your children to this daycare!! They will tell you that they don’t have any spots available and that there is a holding fee of $150 to hold the spot for your child, but then when you decide to go with a different daycare because of their lack of communication and professionalism as well as having to wait too long for a spot to become available, the director Jennie will tell you that she never said there was a holding fee and that that’s the registration fee!! Total lie!!! They will not give you your money back!! They are absolutely horrible!! Poor management, lack of communication, literally lying to parents that come in for tours! I paid the $150 two months ago to “hold a spot for my grandchild” as I was told there were no spots available. I could not continue waiting on a spot and now I’m out $150 for nothing!! Total scam!! Don’t bother communicating with Jordan either because she doesn’t do anything she says she is going to do!! The whole management team is extremely inefficient on their roles!! I would not give any starts if I could!! Worst daycare experience I have ever had in my entire life!!!!!

I went here for daycare as a child. Some of the staff is really nice but their disciplinary actions are questionable. If I misbehaved I was either hit with a ruler or forced to wear a tail and stand in front of the class as a humiliation tactic. Then again this was 2008.
